We, counto GmbH, Huschbergerstr. 6, 40212 Dusseldorf, (“counto”), collect and use your personal data exclusively within the scope of the provisions of data protection law of the Federal Republic of Germany. You are provided with information below on the nature, scope and purpose of the collection and use of personal data. You can also access this information at any time from our website at https://www.counto.com via the “Privacy Policy” link.

This Privacy Policy is counto’s material privacy statement for all services specified here, including the websites and applications (apps) provided by counto.

Collection and storage of data for intrasystem and statistical purposes

The following data are transmitted to our web server each time you access our services:

  • the current IP address of the internet connection you are using
  • if you visit our website via a link, the page you are viewing to visit our site
  • the pages of our website you visit
  • date and time of your visit to our website
  • the operating system, browser (e.g. Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc.) and the browser version you use

These data are stored anonymously and used solely for statistical purposes (e.g. to determine how frequently the specific pages of our website are visited) or for technical network and system monitoring to ascertain faults in server operations (log files).

Additional data processing

Additional data will only be collected and processed if a contractual relationship is to be established between yourself and counto, defined or amended in terms of content. We will use data collected for this purpose only to the extent required to implement the contractual relationship.

If you use our interactive platform to set up countdowns, certain features will only be available if you have registered with us. In this case, we store the login data that you need to enable you to access these additional features. We also store data you have additionally provided such as your name, email address, time zone, image files and friends on Facebook shared by you who also use the Counto-Facebook app. To optimize the services we provide and customize them to local events of other users, we identify your approximate location based on your IP address. To do so, we also use the location information/coordinates which may be in the metadata of the image files you have transmitted to us. Your IP address, however, is not stored by us for this purpose.

When using our Counto-App, device information will also be collected from the device you use to access our services. This includes the language setting of the device and the device ID. The time zone set for the device will also be recorded. This is also done to optimize the services we provide and customize them to local events of other users.

Please note: Email or the contact form are not secure forms of communication and the contents of correspondence sent using these methods is not protected against unauthorized access by third parties. We recommend that you send any confidential information by post.

Consent

We will only ever collect, process or transfer personal data for purposes other than those stipulated above with your express and voluntary prior consent. Insofar as legally and technically possible, the use of our services will not be dependent on the granting of your consent.

You can revoke your consent to the continued future use of your personal data at any time. To do so, please contact the address given above or privacy@counto.com.

Disclosure of personal data to third parties

Please be aware that the content you disclose, including your account name, image and countdowns you set are publicly accessible, depending on the selected setting, and can, therefore, also be downloaded through interfaces by third parties, linked to third-party websites and viewed.

We will use your personal data otherwise exclusively for our own purposes as stipulated above. We will not disclose your personal data to third parties.

If, in the interests of increasing efficiency, data processing tasks are outsourced to third parties, these third parties are required to comply with our data protection standards and grant us the right to monitor compliance with these standards and statutory requirements. counto will continue to be responsible in such case too for ensuring compliance with statutory data protection provisions (“commissioned data processing”).

Security measures

counto has implemented specific technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal data. The security measures are state of the art and are continuously adjusted in line with new developments. All our employees who have access to personal data are obliged to comply with data protection rules and are informed of legal requirements.

If data are collected to initiate or implement a contractual relationship, communication with us will be encrypted according to the state of the art to prevent misuse by third parties.

Storage and deletion of personal data

As soon as your personal data stored by us is no longer required for the purposes for which they were collected, they will be immediately and irrevocably deleted unless we are required by law to store such data. If we are required to store data, data will be irrevocably deleted upon expiry of the legally prescribed retention periods.

Cookies

So-called “cookies” may be used in some cases on our websites. These are small text files which are transmitted from our web server to your workstation. Cookies are used to recognize your workstation when you next visit the website and to provide information to the server about when you last visited our homepage and the pages you viewed. Cookies do not contain personal data and are not linked to other personal data we store. Cookies can identify only the workstation used but not the respective user.

Google Analytics

Our website features Google Analytics, a web-analysis service provided by Google Inc. (“Google”). The cookie-generated data regarding your use of this website will generally be forwarded to a Google server in the USA and stored there.
